Right when I opened the link to Part A, I was instantly drawn to the story 'The Girl Monkey and the String of Pearls.' With a name like that, how could you not? I found this story interesting as they always refer to 'the Girl Monkey,' and could not really discover the significance of this as I read the story. I found this story very cute and fun, and can see how it was rewritten for children. Since the audience is directed towards children, in my retelling I would make it more for an adult audience. This would involve more action, and less silly activities done by 'The Girl Monkey.'
I absolutely loved 'The Three Fishes.' Fish are one of my favorite animals and I have three fish so I really liked this. I especially loved their names: Thoughtful, Thoughtless, and Very Thoughtful. I loved the different personalities of the fish that meshed with their names. I thought this was such a cute kids story. This is definitely a story I will want to do a retelling over. In my retelling I would still want the characters to be fish, but I would want to make them more human-like. I would probably make them live on land and interact with humans, even though they still look and act like fish. I think I would change all of their names that match their personalities like done in this story, but obviously with different personalities! There is a lot I could do with this story, so I may do a storytelling research assignment on this story!
