For this weeks H.E.A.R.T. challenge I went with the letter E for Empathy and read an article about the topic. The article was called '3 Little Tricks to Deal With People Who Offend You.' Something that this article confirmed dealt with putting things in perspective. This is something I am very good at. When someone offends me, I try to think of what in their life has affected them in order for them to feel this way. This lessens my anger, and it becomes more of a feeling of being sorry for the person for feeling this way. I find this feeling much more acceptable than anger and lashing out. Something new that this article taught me was the idea of 'floating down a stream.' This idea discusses whenever you get angered by someone you relax and think about floating down a stream in order to calm you. I am now curious to explore more about is the effectiveness of this technique. In order to actually explore my curiosity is to actually start to practice this technique.
